CELTIC project

User Generated Content (UGC) is boosting on the internet and daily hundreds of thousands of video’s are uploaded (e.g. Vimeo, YouTube…). However UGC is branded with shortcomings. Independently produced content has a stigma of bad quality. The required content is not being re-used in an optimal way and is difficult to find due the large amount of available material. Furthermore, professional and independent producers do not dispose of a platform for collaboration.

MediaMap aims to supply solutions to improve the accessibility and the quality of independent productions, the cooperation between distributors and producers and the cooperation between professional and independent producers.

• MediaMap will provide a platform which outlines the entire project, which, to a large extent, supports the production process and which offers filmmakers the opportunity to define the selected shots.
• A camera that uploads the description of the selected shot is developed to enable the cameraman to read the shots that need filming from the display. Furthermore, algorithms are developed to ensure a quality control of the shots during the entire shooting process.
• The core of the system consists of several mechanisms that early on in the process sift and collect information on audiovisual material. Consequently, routing between various independent work centers can be computerized, data-access is vastly extended and re-use is encouraged.

Proof of concept

Via this link you can visit the demo website of the MediaMap project. This is a work-in-progress proof of concept so remember that there is still a lot of testing and developing going on.
