The IBBT-project organized its "results" workshop on Friday, 26th of September 2008. Interest in these results is high, as already proven on the IBC show and in direct contacts.
The acronym PISA stands for "Production, Indexing and Search of Audio-visual material". Presently, the production of audiovisual footage does not make use of virtual (computer) models. PISA is showing that techniques are mature to develop tools to help media companies produce more efficiently and more creatively. This is what IBBT-partners had in mind when they started the project PISA, and as the project is now heading towards completion, the researchers were able to show concrete results to interested professionals and researchers. The tools Scoop and Trouvaille were demonstrated. These enhance the effectiveness and creativity of news and drama production. Modern techniques, based on the use of virtual models, can be used with success in the media production business. The researchers explained their approach to metadata, how they can be automatically generated (up to a certain point), and how they can help to identify and retrieve valuable material.
One conclusion of the session is clear: the valorization potential of the results is very high.
