20/09/2008 from 11:00 until 7:00 te Copenhagen (Denmark)
We have presented the results of the PISA project on the FIAT/IFTA conference, in particular the part of the project that deal with archive-related issues.
In PISA we have proven the construction of a library system for managing audiovisual material is by no means a trivial exercise. Non of the systems that are commercially available, neither document, media asset management or search engine vendors seem to solve the right problems, including support for the media production processes by which the system can apply the correct object-relationships, showing a behaviour adapted to the intentions of the end-user and respect for the semantic context of the available metadata. The main conclusion of the PISA project is that it is best to develop a new system from the ground up.
